Car maintenance is really important in taking care of your vehicle. For your car to be in good condition and running as it should be, its important you read your automotive owner’s manual and pay attention to the required vehicle maintenance schedule provided by the automobile manufacturer. Following a scheduled date of servicing could help your car to run well, remain in good condition and last you for a very long time. The manufacturer’s advice is very important for you to follow. They are the ones who designed not just the car, but also some of its parts. It is recommended that a vehicle must be checked twice a year, once at about 5,000 and 10,000 miles.

Perhaps even a well maintained car at some point will show signs of wear and tear. It’s okay. Just take note of said signs and have your car checked will get you fine. For example, if you hear an irregular noise or if you feel a different vibration, or if you notice a leak somewhere, or anything irregular whatsoever, go to your regular garage as soon as you can. The longer you wait, the more it is going to be unsafe for you to drive your car.

I know that some folks have to keep their cars on storage during the winter season and I can’t blame them. Snow and salt can do a lot of damage to motor vehicles, especially when they’re not exactly built for winter driving. Anyway, to avoid unnecessary damage to your car, here are a few tips on how to store it properly for an extended time:

Make sure that there is sufficient anti-freeze in the cooling system. It doesnt mean that since youre driving your car outside, the low temperature cant do it in.

Charge your battery. Battery chargers are relatively inexpensive. You can also start your car every once in a while and run its engine. If you are going away on a vacation, you can disconnect the earth strap to prevent the battery from losing charge.

Don’t forget to remove your valuables. If you are not going to store your car in your garage and you won’t be able to see it for a long time, better not to leave your things lying around. And fit a visible steering lock.

Use a car cover to protect it from water and bird droppings if you’re going to leave it outside, or dust if you’re going to store it inside.
